Convener - Noni Cobban
Noni Cobban is a qualified nurse and has a Diploma in Community Care Studies from Glasgow University. She has worked in the independent healthcare sector for 15 years as a manager and director of nursing and residential homes for older people. She established a nursing and home care agency in 1989 and became a founder member of the United Kingdom Home Care Association in the same year. She is now Vice-President for Scotland. She is also a board member of the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of care and has been a member of Alzheimer Scotland Council since 1996 and became Secretary in 2001, then Convener in 2005.
She is currently Project Leader for a Home Care Practice Licence Pilot study based at the Dementia Services Development Centre, University of Stirling.

Vice Convener - Christine McGregor OBE
Christine McGregor worked as a psychiatric social worker and is a counsellor in Edinburgh. She is a past Social Work Commissioner of the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland. She is on the Council and Executive Council of the organisation, chairs the Staffing Committee and is a member of the Rights and Legal Protection Committee.
She continues to be involved in mental health social work and at present is writing a code of practice for the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000.
Secretary - John Laurie
John is an engineer by profession, becoming a Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers in 1971 and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 1992. He spent his working life as an engineer and manager in the construction industry based in Edinburgh and working on projects mainly throughout Scotland. He retired from work in late 2001 and from both Institutions by 2002 to support his wife Avril.
John initially became aware of Alzheimer Scotland during the year 2000 when Avril became ill and he became a full-time carer. Avril was eventually diagnosed as having vascular dementia and admitted to NHS Continuing Care in March 2005.
John joined the Council in 2004 and subsequently the Executive Committee and the Staffing Committee.
Honorary Treasurer - Stan Cairnie
Stan has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland since 1962. After a long career of business management in an international environment, he returned to UK in 1987, joining Scottish Development Agency and subsequently, its successor body, Scottish Enterprise. Stan retired from the post of Director Finance/
Administration for Dumfries & Galloway Enterprise in 1999 but continued his involvement in local businesses and rural development with his own small accountancy practice, based in Moffat.
He is currently secretary/treasurer of the Moffat Business Group but leaves enough time to pursue his leisure interests of travel, people, golf and collecting Scottish landscape paintings.
