Carer training - information for purchasers

The Carer Training Programme offers a comprehensive service to purchasers. Before courses are designed, all family carers who wish to attend are surveyed to identify their training needs. All courses are designed according to these needs and in adherence to Alzheimer Scotland's Carer Training Quality Standards. All courses are evaluated both locally and nationally, with any comments or suggestions from carers used to improve future courses. Previous purchasers include local authorities, community psychiatric nurse teams, GP practices and private nursing homes, and the Princess Royal Trust for Carers.

The Carer Services unit can also provide staff training to organisations whose may wish to develop a carer training programme and provide in-house carer training courses

Fees for these services are variable, dependent on the style and length of each course delivered. Organisations which have group or corporate membership of Alzheimer Scotland will be entitled to a discount.
