All through 2010
Could you do ten 10km races in 2010?
Join Roddy Mackenzie in the 10x10 in 2010 Challenge!
Near the end of 2009, freelance sports journalist Roddy Mackenzie contacted us with a great idea. He wanted to run ten 10km races for Alzheimer Scotland in 2010. He also wanted as many other people as possible to join him. He hoped to raise at least £100. If a hundred other people could join him, that would bring in £10,000.
Ten 10km races in a year may seem like a lot, but if you're already into running, or a member of a running club, it's probably not much more than your usual. The 10x10 in 2010 Challenge could go a long way towards maintaining your fitness, as well as raising a lot of cash for a great cause.
Don't worry if you're new to running, or can't manage ten races on your own. You just need a little help from your friends... or family, or workmates. So long as you can get a team together to cover all the runs between you, you can take part in the 10x10 in 2010 Challenge! It could be some of your friends from the pub, your department at work or even your brothers and sisters.
Frequently asked questions:
Q. Can I only do 10km races? Can I do twice as many 5km or a couple of marathons?
A. We ask that you only do 10km races for the 10x10 in 2010 Challenge. In exceptional circumstances, we would accept two 5km in place of a 10km race, but not longer events (such as marathons) counting for several 10Km races.
Q. Is there anywhere online I can talk about the 10x10 in 2010 Challenge, share tips with other runners etc?
A, Check out the discussion on our Facebook page
