The dates for the 2012 Big Fun Runs have now been confirmed and on-line entries are being accepted. They all take place exclusively within scenic parks that are both safe and pleasant running environments. The Big Fun Run's are aimed at a range of motivations from the serious runners to those simply looking for a gentle bit of healthy exercise.
Alzheimer Scotland is proud to once again be an official charity for the BIG FUN RUN Series. This year Big Fun Runs take place throughout July and September where the distance of each run is 5k.
The Big Fun Runs are for everyone – men or women, young or old, you don't even have to run! So encourage your family, friends or colleagues to search out their running gear and form a team for Alzheimer Scotland. As well as having 6 events in Scotland we have 2 extra events in Dublin and Belfast in 2012.
The dates of the September Big Fun Runs are:
East Lothian 5k Run - Sat 15th September
Venue: Musselburgh Racecourse Map
The route will encorporate two laps of the National Hunt Track. The historic Musselburgh Links has been a venue for horse racing since 1816, Situated in one of the most beautiful areas of the country with the historic Musselburgh Old Course Golf Course located in the heart of the racetrack.
Aberdeen 5k Run - Sat 22nd September
Venue: Hazlehead Park Map
The course starts and finishes on the playing fields. The route comprises two laps of the park, starting off with a loop of the playing field. The route will then continue towards the petting zoo, past the restaurant and children's play area and through the rose gardens. The course will make use of pathways where possible but will also be parts of the course on grass areas. The start/finish area will be indicated by a large inflatable archway.

Venue : North Inch Park Map
The course consists of two loops following the gravelled pathways, along the west bank of the River Tay and past the golf course. The start/finish area will be indicated by a large inflatable archway. North Inch is an area of parkland to the north of Perth town centre. Situated on the west bank of the River Tay, The park is most famous as the scene of the Battle of the North Inch and is also home to North Inch golf club.
