The Great North Run has become a favourite in the running calendar with over 54,000 runners pounding the streets of Newcastle, in the world's biggest half marathon.

Starting in the heart of the city centre and finishing by the sea in South Shields, the atmosphere is unbeatable. Crossing the Tyne Bridge and through the streets on Newcastle and Gateshead the race is one which competitors never forget.

Runners include those looking to improve a previous time, complete novices, fancy dress runners and celebrities.

There are 2 ways you can run for Alzheimer Scotland in the Great North Run:

1. Apply for an Alzheimer Scotland charity place
   Entry fee: £20
   Minimum fundraising pledge: £350
You can join our team for the 2012 race by getting in touch with us at events@alzscot.org or phoning 0845 260 0789 and we will send you out a registration form.


2. Use your own place
   If you were lucky enough to get a place in the Great North Run you can still be part of the Alzheimer Scotland team by using that place to run for us. You will receive a full fundraising running pack and gain access to all of the same benefits as a charity place runner.
   
   Important: By signing up as an own place runner we will not provide a place in the event. You must have already received your place and paid for your registration directly to the event organisers.

Accommodation

Make sure you book your accommodation early, as hotels fill up very quickly in the area.

Sponsorship pack

All of our runners will be provided with sponsor forms, temporary face tattoo and of course a free awareness raising t-shirt or breathable running vest to wear on the day. We can also help with any publicity that may help your fundraising along.
