Alzheimer Scotland’s charity shops
Alzheimer Scotland has three charity shops, in Forres, Golspie and Renfrew.
If you would like to buy or sell items to support Alzheimer Scotland but do not live near enough to one of our shops you can use ebay and donate to us by selling your items or buying items from our Ebay shop
Alternatively you can buy items from our online shop.
Forres
The Alzheimer Scotland Charity shop is located at 132 High Street in the bustling town of Forres, with free parking facilities nearby. It opened in May 2010 and is staffed entirely by a friendly and welcoming team of 33 regular and 8 relief volunteers on a rota.
They welcome any good quality donations of clothing, accessories, books, DVDs, videos, CDs and bric-a-brac, but are unable to sell furniture or electrical goods. Unsold or unsuitable goods will be recycled to provide additional income.
The opening hours are 10am – 4pm Monday to Saturday. For more information please contact the shop on tel. 07554 340253.
Golspie
‘2nd Best’ is the name of our charity shop in the small village of Golspie in Sutherland, ‘2nd Best’ by name but most definitely not by nature. The opening of this very successful shop was initiated by members of the local Alzheimer Scotland carer support group in 2001.
The shop is ideally situated on the main road through the village, the A9, which connects Inverness to the North coast of Highland, with car parking facilities in front of the shop and in the main village car park opposite, and is the social hub of Golspie.
The shop gratefully receives donations from all over Highland and accepts and sells anything, including furniture, with the exception of electrical goods. Unsold or unsuitable goods are re-cycled in an assortment of ways.
The opening hours are 10 – 4.30 weekdays, 10- 4 on Saturdays.
Shop volunteers Susan and Jean beside the 'Information Station'Information about dementia and local support services for people with dementia and their families is also available.
The shop is staffed entirely by volunteers currently a rota of about 20, but more are always needed to serve in the shop or help with sorting, ironing, collecting goods and a variety of other helpful tasks.
Contact: Brenda MacMillan 01408 633008 for any further information, or if you find yourself passing through Golspie the 2nd Best shop is perfect place to break your journey. You will be assured of a warm welcome.
Renfrew
Alzheimer Scotland’s charity shop in Renfrew is based at 57 Hairst Street in Renfrew, which is ideally situated in the centre of the town, with car parking facilities to the rear. The shop is open 10 am to 4 pm from Monday to Saturday and is well supported by regular customers from Renfrew, Paisley, Erskine, Bishopton & Glasgow. We're now under new management, come in and say hello!
The shop currently sells good quality clothing, shoes, bags, jewellery, bric ŕ brac, books, dvds, videos, records, cds & small items of furniture and is well stocked due to regular donations from local residents. Donated items of clothing that are not suitable for re-sale are sent for recycling which provides additional income.
We now accept toys and are looking forward to seeing all the families pop in over the summer. Unfortunately we are still not able to accept electrical goods.
We currently have 16 volunteers who help with the day-to-day running of the shop, but we are always on the lookout for extra volunteers with a couple of hours to spare who would be willing to help us in any way.
