What your donation will help us do
- £15 Our Freephone Dementia Helpline takes over 5,500 calls annually providing information and emotional support. £15 will provide a basic information pack for a carer, sent out in response to a call to the Helpline.
- £25 Basic information about the illness of dementia is often hard to find. £25 will buy 500 information leaflets about dementia which are available through local services.
- £50 People with dementia love to be able to remember what things used to be like 50 or more years ago, when they were young. £50 could cover the costs of a selection of books, videos and CDs to help with reminiscence work in day care centres.
- £100 Courses can help support a carer in their caring role and can delay the admission of the person with dementia into long-term care. £100 will pay for a carer to attend a day's course on dementia care with our highly trained staff.
- £150 We are currently funding a dementia nurse at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley to improve care for people with dementia in acute wards. £150 will cover the costs for a day.
- £250 Our Freephone Dementia Helpline is staffed entirely by volunteers who need thorough training to enable them to answer all the calls. £250 will cover the costs of training one new volunteer for the Helpline.
- £6,000 We lobby politicians and service providers to improve services for people with dementia and their carers. £6,000 pays for printing and distributing a policy report used to highlight a campaigning theme for the year.
- £20,000 Your donation could help with the costs of a researcher working to take forward our understanding of dementia, its causes and cures and to optimise interventions. £20,000 pays the costs of one research fellow for 6 months.
- £62,000 of legacy income was spent last year on supporting the Welfare Rights service, which helped people with dementia and their carers claim benefits - such as Attendance Allowance and Council Tax rebates to which they are entitled.
