Plucky abseilers raised over £19,000 for us last year and we're hoping that the 2008 events will be even more successful!

You will need to send us £20 in advance sponsorship, together with a completed registration form to secure your place. Then the balance of your sponsorship (£75+) is due on the day of the abseil – although we are happy to accept a post dated cheque to one month after the event, giving you that extra time to collect in your sponsorship.
Everyone taking part will receive a free t-shirt to wear on the day. So if you're 16 years or over - what are you waiting for?

The Great Scottish Walk: Glasgow - Sunday 25th May 2008; Edinburgh - Sunday 22nd June 2008

The Great Scottish Walk has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 1997. In the first year 2300 walkers took part, and in 2006 that number had grown to over 8000! Walkers come from all over the UK to take part in the event.
Walkers can chose between a 12-mile route, a 6-mile route or The Golden Mile. There is something to suit all ages and levels of fitness. This year will also be the first year of the Glasgow walk.
Many walkers dress up for the occasion but most just come along to enjoy the carnival atmosphere which includes plenty of street entertainment to keep you going.

Pedal for Scotland - 14 September 2008
This is the largest mass-participation cycle ride in Scotland and attracts record amounts of cyclists each year. 4000 cyclists braved torrential rain on Sunday September 16 and covered the 50 mile route from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Organisers are hoping for an even bigger and better event this time round, estimating that over 5000 people will take part.
Alzheimer Scotland is proud to be one of the official subsidiary charities.
The event date will take place on 14 September 2008 - starting in George Square, Glasgow.
The route snakes through the central belt taking in Drumpellier Country Park, Avonbridge, Linlithgow, Kirkliston and ends in Edinburgh at Victoria Park.
There are varying start times from 9am and you can even organise transport to the start for you and your bike!
Full event details can be found at www.pedalforscotland.org where you can also register to take part.
The event is open to individuals and groups and to cyclists of all ages and abilities. Some people want to make it a race but for many it is a day out in lovely surroundings, challenging themselves.
50 miles may seem like a long, long way but there are plenty of stops for a snack along the way and you don’t need to break any records! Cyclists from age 6 to 70 have taken part in the past.
If you would like to pedal for Alzheimer Scotland please call Moira, our Fundraising & Events Manager, on 0845 2600 789 or email events@alzscot.org for sponsorship forms and a free t-shirt to wear on the day.
