Over 200 brave fundraisers, took part in this year's Memory Walk on 16 September 2012, walking 5k to raise funds for Alzheimer Scotland. Although a little bit on the wet side, the day was a huge success (see our photos on Flickr) and we would like to thank everyone involved.
Scotland's leading dementia charity ran the family fundraising day, in partnership with Bupa Care Homes, as part of its celebration of World Alzheimer's Day on 21 September 2012. New to the event for 2012 was the Bupa Memory Mile, with 131 walkers choosing to walk an extra mile in return for a donation of £5 from Bupa Care Homes to Alzheimer Scotland.
The funds are still coming in but we know the event has raised a significant sum for Alzheimer Scotland's vital work. The money raised through our Memory Walk will be used to fund Alzheimer Scotland's local services so by taking part in the walk you have supported people affected by dementia in your community.
Thank you so much to everyone who took part and huge thanks to the 33 Alzheimer Scotland volunteers who did a fantastic job on the day.
