Pain in dementia

Each person feels pain differently but people with dementia may have difficulty telling others they are in pain or have problems explaining where the pain is located. If they are unable to describe their pain in words, their behaviour may give clues to their pain and should not just be assumed to be part of their dementia.

This information sheet lists the possible signs to look for and explains briefly how family members and friends can support someone with dementia who is experiencing pain.
