A welcome knighthood for Pratchett, but greater recognition of people with dementia is needed

Alzheimer Scotland is delighted that renowned author Terry Pratchett has been knighted for services to literature. We also hope that this honour recognises his tireless campaigning over the past year on behalf of people with dementia in the UK.

Henry Simmons, Chief Executive of Alzheimer Scotland, said, "We would like to see a much greater recognition of of the work of people with dementia, particularly in Scotland, who have campaigned for many years as self-advocates alongside carer activists to improve the lives of other people with dementia and their carers. We look forward to seeing their achievements recognised in the years to come."
