The Dementia Epidemic report
The report highlights the large and rapidly growing number of people with dementia in Scotland and the economic impact now and in the future. It provides detailed figures on the number of people with dementia and on services, both nationally and by local authority and health board. The report sets out what strategies need to be put in place to manage or reduce the increase.

This is my home: the quality of care for people with dementia living in care homes
This report raises concerns about the quality of care received in care homes by people with dementia. It aims to campaign for better quality of care in care homes. To this end, it will be of interest to people with dementia and their carers, care home staff and managers, care home providers in all sectors, the Care Commission, service commissioners and GPs. This report campaigns for more short breaks of better quality for people with dementia and their carers. It encourages people with dementia and their carers to seek improvements in service provision and challenges service providers to do more to improve short break services. (2004)

This report aims to help commissioners, providers and assessors to have a better understanding of the specific support needs of carers of people with dementia so that resources may be developed and targeted that are more sensitive and responsive to meeting individual need. This report is intended to speed up the development of early intervention services for people with dementia. It will be of interest to NHS board and social work department service planners and commissioners, service users, carers and others concerned with dementia services. (2003)

You're not alone: dementia awareness in ScotlandThis report examines the findings of the first public opinion poll to be conducted in Scotland on the extent of public knowledge about dementia. A thousand adults, selected to reflect the population structure of Scotland, were interviewed. The survey covered: attitudes towards people with dementia; personal worries about developing the illness; views on what help is available; and the level of confidence in health and community care services for people with dementia. Life after diagnosis: a report on meeting the needs of people in the early stages of dementia
This report aims to inform policy makers and professionals about the assistance needed by people experiencing the early symptoms of dementia and their carers. It calls for accurate and timely information about the illness, and emotional support and counselling to help people cope and make informed decisions whilst still able to do so. (1998)

The right to know? Sharing the diagnosis of dementia
This report is for interested professionals, people with dementia and their carers. It looks at the evidence on current practice, addresses whether people with dementia should be told their diagnosis, and recommends good practice in giving a diagnosis. (1997)
