Self Directed Support (Direct Payments) for People with Dementia
Alzheimer Scotland is undertaking a research project to find out how social care can be made more responsive to the individual needs of people with dementia and carers. In Scotland self direct support (direct payments) is at the centre of the Government’s agenda to give people greater control over the support they receive.
This project aims to identify how people with dementia and carers are using self direct support, identifying the benefits and difficulties, in order to provide recommendations on improving practice.
We would like to
- hear the views and experiences of people with dementia and carers who are using self directed support.
- find out the issues in practice from local authority social workers and others involved in the organisation and arrangement of self directed support for people with dementia and/or other users of adult social care.
Please contact Lindsay Kinnaird, Policy and Research Officer, if you would like to share your experience of self directed support.
