Summer Appeal - donation formPlease support our Information Service
Terry Pratchett, the well-known author recently described his Alzheimer’s diagnosis as 'an embuggerance', but his private experience may well have been one of fear, dismay and abandonment.
Reliable and accessible information is crucial at diagnosis and throughout the illness. Learning how to cope with change, finding out how others manage and seeking local sources of help are essential.
We need your support to
- Train a new team of information volunteers so they can ensure people get the information they need
- Maintain and improve our high standards of information provision
- Update and upgrade our website as electronic information grows in importance
- Publish our report Meeting our needs? The level and quality of community services for people with dementia in Scotland which we will use to campaign for better services.
So that we can inform
- More of Scotland’s 59,000 people with dementia and thousands more connected to the illness as carers, family and friends through our publications, website www.alzscot.org and Dementia Helpline
- Our staff and volunteers, health and social workers and the media, to develop their understanding of dementia
- Our campaigns at Holyrood and Westminster for better health and social care.
Will you help us?
The Information Service provides a wide range of information about our services, dementia, caring and related issues. As the leading dementia charity in Scotland we have the responsibility and the expertise to deliver this information to those who need it.
But being able to provide this information requires investment and will cost £140,000 this year. Please help us by giving as generously as you can. Donate online or download the summer appeal donation form to print out and complete.
With best wishes
