Attending the conference will be challenging for me, will sessions be recorded?

Yes, the opening plenary and 3 main sessions on Prevent, Care and Cure will be recorded. We are unable to stream these live, but they will be available one week after the conference. Viewing the sessions will be free for people living with dementia, families and carers. There will be a £20 fee for viewing these sessions for all others. Links to the sessions will be available via our website.

Do I choose and book the symposium sessions in advance of the conference?

No, the full list of sessions, time and locations will be available on the day, and attendees pop along to whichever two sessions they are most interested in.

What if I’m interested in more than two sessions?

Each session will only run once. The people who lead the sessions have offered to provide a session overview and share that after conference – we can signpost to session leads for follow up.

What if I don’t want to attend any of the sessions?

Attendees can opt out and either explore the exhibitor space, or any of the breakout/therapeutic sessions. We will have quiet rooms for anyone seeking some time out.

What is the lunch format?

The Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) provide prepacked salad bowls to fulfil a range of dietary requirements, and some seating areas will be provided for anyone opting to sit down to enjoy their lunch. There are a range of local shops in the vicinity for anyone who might prefer a different choice of lunch.

Is there space in the programme for comfort breaks?

Yes, we have worked closely with members of the Scottish Dementia Working Group (SDWG) who have helped shape the running order, with plenty of refreshments available throughout the day.

The EICC is a big venue and there is a lot of activity planned, will everything be clearly signposted?

Yes, and we will have team members available and visible on the day to support attendees. A full programme will be available via a QR code and an accessible venue map/programme printed and shared with anyone who needs it on the day.
