With over 90,000 people living with dementia in Scotland right now, almost everyone knows someone living dementia, so there has never been a better time to become a Dementia Friend.
To mark World Alzheimer's Day in September, we want to reach 90,000 Dementia Friends in Scotland: one for every person living with dementia.
What is the Dementia Friends Tour?
Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer Scotland initiative that aims to raise awareness about dementia and reduce the stigma. Anybody can become a Scottish Dementia Friend. It’s just about understanding a bit more about dementia and the small things you can do to help people with the condition.
This September, we're taking our Dementia Friends sessions on the road to 10 locations across Scotland to make it even easier to become dementia friendly.
What the sessions will include:
- facts about dementia
- the difference between different types of dementia
- how dementia can affect a person
- learnings on the small changes we can all make to improve the quality of life for a person living with dementia
