A huge thank you to everyone who joined our annual Dementia Awareness Week campaign in early June. We are delighted with the level of engagement across all our social media channels, and everyone who made a pledge of support using our downloadable ‘forget-me-not’ form. The response was excellent and we were inundated with photos and video messages from across the public and professional communities. A particular shout out to the pupils from Edinbane Primary School in Skye, who coloured forget-me-nots and put them in the windows and also planted forget-me-not seeds in their wildflower garden.

We were thrilled to see the Beacon Arts Centre and Custom House both in Inverclyde, and the Ness Bridge in Inverness all lit up purple to mark the week. This show of support is fantastic and plays a huge in the awareness raising of dementia. As well as front page coverage in the Herald, we had some of Team Alz Scot appear on BBC Radio Scotland, Sky news and Glasgow Live.

The theme for Dementia Awareness Week this year was ‘Let’s talk about dementia’ – a big thank you to everyone who talked, listened, and took action. All of these micro conversations help make a contribution to our mission in making sure nobody faces dementia alone.
