Supporter of Alzheimer Scotland since 2013, Jeff Hooper is fundraising for us once again in lieu of this year’s Edinburgh Marathon Festival 10k, which was originally due to take place this month.

Although Jeff still hopes to take part in the 10k on its new date this September, he is ramping up his support for Alzheimer Scotland even further by cycling an Elliptical Marathon on Saturday 23rd May - the original date of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 10k.

Jeff has experienced the affects and impact of dementia first hand as his late father and aunt were both diagnosed with dementia. He shares his thoughts and experience that: “In these difficult times we worry about the most vulnerable members of society, and as we move into May, a month I usually associate with our fundraising efforts, my thoughts have turned to all the people affected by Alzheimers”.

Jeff will take his cross-trainer on wheels onto his local country roads to cycle the marathon distance (26.2 miles) whilst maintaining social distancing.

Jeff -virtual event

As a music therapist for NHS Tayside since 1985, during lockdown Jeff has been using the internet to offer remote music therapy sessions.

Since 2013 Jeff has raised over £4.5k for Alzheimer Scotland and this time he is aiming to raise £300.00. All funds raised will go direct to Alzheimer Scotland to support people living with dementia and their families, who need our support more than ever during the coronavirus pandemic.

Please join us and Do it for dementia.

All challenges are welcomed and our events team would be delighted to help you create a virtual event to suit you. You can find out more here
