World-leading approaches to dementia

Our International Centre offers study tour programmes which provide opportunities and support for international groups and individuals to engage with our transformative work across Scotland in support of people with dementia, families, carers and communities. As Scotland’s leading dementia charity, Alzheimer Scotland has been a force for change for almost forty years and it is this wealth of experience that we offer you.

In partnership with our colleagues at the Alzheimer Scotland Centre for Policy and Practice, University of West of Scotland, we strive to enhance the lives of people affected by dementia wherever they are. We are committed to knowledge exchange and sharing our experiences of how key partnerships with a shared vision are bringing about changes grounded in the rights and citizenship of people with dementia.

There will be opportunity to meet staff fulfilling the key roles that make change possible, visit our Dementia Resource Centres, and state of the art learning facilities. Most importantly, you will be able to connect with the Scottish Dementia Working Group and the National Dementia Carers Action Group, who are world leaders in influencing how the active voice of people with dementia and carers should, and do, drive policy and changes in working practices, and tackle stigma head on.

The opportunity to directly engage with the people and approaches at the heart of our world-leading developments, along with experiencing the exciting cultural centres and stunningly beautiful landscapes of Scotland, assures you a warm welcome and a rich learning experience.

The Centre is at the heart of an influential global movement that aims to transform the lives of people with dementia and we can’t wait for you to get involved.

Become part of our story

The interactive nature of our programmes will be supported by a dedicated digital platform to share materials, sustain connections and relationships with those brought together through the International Centre. This will provide a platform for advance materials, guidance and support to make the best of your time with us.

Our two-day programmes are themed and can be combined to create the best possible experience to meet your interests and needs. See below for the selection of themes that are on offer to populate your study tour with.

Sponsored knowledge exchange

Sponsor knowledge exchange

Alzheimer Scotland is keen to support countries that don't have the same infrastructures, the same budgets or indeed the same level of support for people living with dementia as Scotland does, to be able to come to Scotland to learn about our work, share ideas, and to receive on-going support by becoming part of our network, to ensure nobody faces dementia alone, as an associate of the centre.

We are calling upon individuals, businesses and organisations to help fund this knowledge exchange by committing to a £1,000 donation, that will allow an individual associate to come to Scotland and participate in one of our two day study tours. If you are interested in supporting an associate of the International Centre, please contact the team.
