We are looking for 3 Volunteer Drivers who will be involved in our Community Groups or Dementia Café’s. Drivers will be required to take service users to and from an activity; and can either join in the activity or return at the end to support the service user home. Your car should be able to carry walking aids or similar belonging to your passengers and you may be asked to pick up more than one service user.
Activities take place in and around Dundee city – Monday – Friday – (i.e. Football Memories, Boogie in the Bar, Dining Clubs, Morgan’s Meals etc)
Drivers should have access to their own car. A valid MOT is essential and copies of Vehicle service and Insurance documents will be required. Your insurance should include Business use.
There is a minimum age restriction of 21 years of age and drivers should have a full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years.
Previous experience in transporting people, along with an insight into dementia is useful, although not essential as Dementia Friends and Moving & Assisting training will be given. All we do ask is that you have empathy and patience.
Mileage expenses can be claimed during volunteering.

How volunteering helped me
I’m 78 and I have Alzheimer’s disease - that’s why I wanted to volunteer, to help other people with the same condition. I feel that I am doing well and other people can as well.
I can’t praise the Alzheimer Scotland staff highly enough. They’ve been great to Bill and me all these years. I don’t know what we would have done without them!
