Parkinson’s dementia is a condition that some people can experience as Parkinson’s disease progresses.

MS is a neurological condition which affects people in different ways.

Korsakoff’s syndrome is caused by lack of thiamine (vitamin B1), which affects the brain and nervous system. 

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) can affect brain function and motor skills.This condition is known as HIV associated dementia and affects around 50% of people with HIV.

Dementia with Lewy Bodies is a common form of dementia but many people have never heard of it.

People with vascular dementia often have a series of small strokes. These strokes are so small that they are generally not aware of them. 

Alzheimer’s disease is an illness of the brain which causes dementia. Over half the people in Scotland who have dementia have Alzheimer’s disease.

Dementia is not a natural part of the ageing process. It’s caused by illnesses that affect the brain.
