Your support
Thanks to your kindness and support, you are helping us make sure nobody faces dementia alone.
The funds that you donate to us, or raise for us, are crucial in allowing us to deliver dementia care and support, campaign for better services and improved understanding of dementia, fund dementia research, and support people across Scotland to maintain their own brain health.
From all of us at Alzheimer Scotland, we’d like to thank you for your support – we couldn’t do it without you. And, every penny that is raised in Scotland, stays in Scotland.
Here are some of the ways your support is helping.
Funding vital services
From our Brain Health & Dementia Resource Centres in towns and cities across Scotland, to our 24 hour Freephone Dementia Helpline and our network of Dementia Advisors – your support means we can help wherever and whenever we are needed.
Campaigning for better dementia care
Alzheimer Scotland’s campaigns are informed and driven by the experiences and concerns of people with dementia, their carers, families and our membership. We believe that all people with dementia in Scotland have a right to the best possible standards of care. From our Fair Dementia Care Campaign to our Commission on the Future of Long Term Care in Scotland report, your support is helping us campaign for improved services and supports.
Helping promote brain health and dementia prevention
Thanks to research, we now know that up to 45% of dementias are preventable. By helping people to protect their brain health today, Alzheimer Scotland can prevent dementia in the future. We do this through our prevention initiative – Brain Health Scotland – which works with people of all ages, across the whole of Scotland, to provide all information and advice about maintaining brain health.
Opening up Scotland’s green spaces for people with dementia
We know that outdoor activities and access to nature bring huge benefits for people with dementia. However, we also know that people with dementia face many challenges in accessing green spaces. To address this, Alzheimer Scotland launched the UK’s first dedicated Outdoor Dementia Resource Centre in Badaguish, near Aviemore in April 2023. The Centre has become a hub for a wide range of nature-inspired pastimes such as walking, cycling, gardening, art, and willow weaving. In June 2025, we are opening our second Outdoor Centre at Lauriston Castle, near Cramond.
