Trish’s 15 year Bowling Fundraiser

For more than 15 years, Trish McLennan has been an extraordinary supporter of Alzheimer Scotland, dedicating her fundraising efforts to the memory of her late husband David.

Trish’s Story

Through perseverance, community spirit, and an incredible network of family, friends, and fellow bowlers, Trish has raised £35,000 over the years, making a meaningful difference to people living with dementia and their carers.

David was a passionate and accomplished bowler. In his honour, Trish created an annual bowling event where the winner was awarded the David McLennan Friendship Trophy.

Each year, fellow bowlers, friends, and loved ones gathered for a friendly tournament. The winner was awarded the special Friendship Trophy, a symbol not only of sporting skill but of community, remembrance, and love. Over the years, this event grew into a cherished tradition, uniting people in support of a cause that helped Trish.

The support she received from her Alzheimer Scotland played a pivotal role during one of the most challenging times.

Trish explains:

“David was only 67 years old when he passed away with this terrible disease. The support I got from Alzheimer Scotland was amazing. I don’t think I would have gotten through the journey without the friendship and encouragement from my link worker, Dot. The money we have raised is to help people and their carers, and make life a bit easier for them.”

Huge thank you to Trish, her family, friends, and the entire community who have supported this event year after year. Your kindness and dedication in this meaningful way continue to support the lives of people living with dementia across Scotland.
