Caitlin is one of our fantastic fundraisers in this year’s 90K Steps Challenge. Caitlin’s mum, Catriona, was diagnosed with younger onset dementia in 2019. Catriona and her family have lived Carbridge for over 30 years and she has been very much involved in the local community, running youth clubs and supporting activities for local children. Following Catriona’s diagnosis and inspired by their mum’s love of the outdoors, in 2021, Caitlin and her sister Sinead undertook their 100 miles challenge, 85 on bicycle and the last 15 walking, where they were joined by their mum. They raised £3,566.

Catriona’s 60th birthday fell on the last day of the 90K challenge. Caitlin was joined by her mum on most days of the challenge, both working towards their 90,000 steps goal. Between them they have already raised almost £1,000! The local community have rallied round in support of Catriona, not only through sponsorship but in encouraging Caitlin with her challenge every step of the way.
Caitlin says of her mum, “She has always taken every day as a new opportunity to get out in the great outdoors. Whether it’s skiing, cycling, walking - you name it she’ll be out there!” Catriona attends our Outdoor Dementia Centre at Bagaduish and loves taking part in the activities it provides.
