In this section you can find out more about volunteering with us as a Information and Advice or Memory Bus volunteer.

What’s involved in being an Information and Advice/Memory Bus volunteer?

You could be providing information and advice about dementia and related topics to members of the public within our Dementia Resource Centres and /or when the Alzheimer Scotland Memory Bus is sited at planned local and national events.

The role may vary but is likely to include:

  • Actively listening to, communicating with and providing relevant information and advice to members of the public
  • Maintaining knowledge of other organisations and services that can help people living with dementia and sign post when appropriate
  • Continually learning to ensure the most up to date information is readily available.

What skills are required for these roles?

Both of these roles require the ability to convey information in potentially sensitive environments during periods of high stress for the people who are asking for help. Due to this, these roles are open to people over the age of 18.

As with all volunteering roles, there will be training where required and ongoing support from our Volunteer team. Full job descriptions will be available upon application.
