Participating in dementia research
Learn more about the ways you can get involved in dementia research.
Participating in research
Taking part in research is one of the most powerful ways you can help shape the future of dementia care, treatment and prevention. Whether you’re living with dementia, caring for someone who is, or interested in brain health, there are opportunities to get involved.
Research studies need people from all walks of life to volunteer. Taking part in research could involve completing surveys, taking part in clinical trials, or sharing your personal experiences. Every contribution, big or small, helps researchers better understand dementia and bring us closer to new treatments and, one day, a cure.
If you’re interested in about taking part, there are two main organisations supporting research recruitment in Scotland.
Join Dementia Research
Join Dementia Research delivers new opportunities for people wanting to make a difference for people living with dementia now and in the future; connecting researchers with people who want to participate in studies.

Neuroprogressive and Dementia Research Network
The Network is responsible for the coordination and running of clinical trials for people living in Scotland with mild cognitive impairment, dementia and other neuroprogressive diseases. It is funded by the Chief Scientist Office in Scotland. They also have a Patient and Public Involvement Group to support their work.
