Dementia Advisors
Our Dementia Advisors are here to support people with dementia, their partners, families and carers, along with local businesses and the community. All advice and support provided by our Dementia Advisors is confidential.
Your local Dementia Advisor can:
- provide information and advice
- help you find the dementia support that you need
- connect you to local groups and services
- help your local community be more dementia friendly
- help you influence the policies and services that affect you.
Dementia Advisors: Our 10 year impact
The first Dementia Advisor came in to post on World Alzheimer’s Day 2009 and, since then, has continued to play an active role in ensuring people with dementia and their carers and families are provided with person-centred support at every stage of a dementia diagnosis. They also support the wider community by providing Dementia Awareness sessions, Dementia Friends sessions and explore opportunities to create a Dementia Friendly Scotland.
There are currently 36 Dementia Advisors across Scotland and the report hears from just some of the people and groups that have benefited throughout the years, as well as highlighting some key statistics and a look to the future.
Dementia Advisors
The network of Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Advisors is only possible to provide due to the generous funds raised by our supporters.
