Research

Alzheimer Scotland is committed to areas of research reflecting the continuum of prevention, delay, and support. Alzheimer Scotland supports a wide range of dementia research through funding, study, recruitment and helping to develop the structures that enable dementia research to flourish.

Finding the cure

There is currently no cure for dementia, but we are seeing more and more developments in the world of dementia research.

Thanks to the latest studies, we know more than ever about dementia and what is most important regarding care, support, and quality of life. We also understand more about what can be done to help prevent dementia, as we work towards our goal of finding a cure.

From Alzheimer’s disease drug breakthroughs, to using blood-based biomarkers for earlier diagnosis, promising steps forward are being made. For us, research brings hope.

Participating in dementia research

Taking part in research is one of the most powerful ways you can help shape the future of dementia care, treatment and prevention. Whether you’re living with dementia, caring for someone who is, or interested in brain health, there are opportunities to get involved.
